Scolani: Sultanate styled Dynasty – Ruled by House Khalid.

Shyul is the largest and most prominent city on Sorth and is the seat of most of the Scolani power. While the King and Queen are still living they are traditional in their rule and remain staunchly xenophobic. In their stead, Princess Kodi and Prince Ashur are acting ambassadors and tend to do the traveling when it is needed. They are both rather influential among their people and, for the most part, are looked upon with high regard.

The Scolani capital city is Shyul, located in Sorth near the waters.  The Scolani lead a Kingdom of trade, their biggest and most popular exports are special fruits found only within the Sorth deserts as well as fish found in the Merchant Seas and glass made and found upon the sands of their shores, built alongside a militant, often times rigid, army. Shyul is flanked by four smaller cities, each led by a family of good standing with the royalty of Shyul.

[ Notable Resources ]

Each Scolani city is expected to work together as the race strive to work with cohesion for the betterment of the race as a whole and each city is responsible for the cultivation of certain goods that benefit their peoples, be it trade or their everyday lives. The cities are Kythe, who are charged with keeping the fruits plentiful,  Xalorin, who have been trained in the ways of mining quorin from the sands,  Drakari, cultivates glass from the sands, and Athryn, home of the premium meats of the deserts, leaving Shyul as the place to find the most proficient of fishermen.

Most of the creatures found in the sands of Sorth are adorned with thick hides or scales and sharply jagged teeth and stingers making them excellent resources for weapons and armor. The shores of Sorth are very often places to find an assortment of storm created glass which is hardened by a process that the Scolani have perfected, making them another source for weapons if used creatively.

[ Known Dangers ]

Despite the great beasts that live in Sorth’s deserts, ranging from great duneworms and infestations of zirtheen to the Scolani that have conquered the continent, one of the most dangerous threats that Sorth can throw at the unfortunates found wandering its wastes is the blazing heat from the sun.  The aforementioned duneworms can swallow entire caravans whole while the Zirtheen, a race of scarab-like insectoids that some believe to be the forerunners of the Thri-Kreen on Xansai, are capable of stripping bodies down to the bone in a matter of minutes.

In the eastern, High Plains, there are long stretches of sharp sand that are hidden most times, but with an unfortunate sand storm the sharp sand can be uncovered.  Sharp sand are rows of sun-melted sand made into thick, piercing spires of glass, capable of redirecting the sun’s light and making an area a great deal hotter than it would be normally.  In addition to the heat, normal sand covering the blades of sharp sand frequently has the consistency of quicksand, pulling any victims into a painful death, either by being impaled by the sharp sand or asphyxiation.

Sand Sharks tend to be rare within the endless oceans of sand, however if one is spotted it can be expected that another is with them as they tend to travel with a mate. These creatures are large in size ranging up to fifteen feet in length and about two thousand pounds in weight. Their bodies are streamlined to move through the sands and their skins tend to be thick and  extremely sleek in texture. Their fins, while traversing the sands, press in and against their body and only flap open when they emerge from the sands to take down their prey. Sand Sharks like to swim deep within the sands but rise near the upper crust of sands when prey has their attention. They can be seen ahead of time by a moving bulge in the sands and a sharp and sudden bright flare when they are near the top layer of sands where their smooth bodies reflect and fracture the light of the sun.
